The high altar of the 11th Century is very simple.

The statue of Our Lady is on the right and that of bishop St Teilo on his white horse on the left.

This re-building of St. Teilo’s Church is remarkable. We see it today in its restored state as a Catholic parish church of 1520.  It is beautifully decorated internally as was the custom, then, as so many of the faithful were unable to read, the illustrations were their visual bible.

The pilgrim is greeted by St Christopher carrying the Child Jesus over perilous waters.

A richly decorated rood screen before the high altar depicts the life of St Teilo in many colours. It is a restored wood carving, and dated anew to 2007.

At the side of the rood screen are depicted the instruments of the Passion of Christ. The Passion features in many of the affrescos.
